MY STORY

Howdy! My name is Leticia Gomes and I'm currently a junior (MIS) business major at Texas A&M, with University Honors. I was born in Sao Paulo Brazil, but moved to Texas at three years old. I moved to San Jose, California for my seventh and eighth grade, but then moved back to Texas.  

Growing up, I lived with my mom and grandmother. I grew up learning both Portuguese and English (Portuguese at home, and English at school), and my favorite subject has always been math. I have no siblings, although I wish I did have an older brother or sister. By far, the most influential person in my life as been my mom. Her resiliency and ambition encourages me to not be afraid of dreaming big, and fuels me to work hard towards my goals.

In high school, I was very involved in many pre-law extracurriculars. Coming into A&M, I was a Political Science major with the plan of going to Law school. However, throughout my Freshman year, I discovered that Business was my true passion, and decided to change my major. I hope to own my own business and my own nonprofit. I'm eager to take advantage of all the opportunities I have at A&M, and continue working towards my aspirations.

Lastly, my faith in Christ is the leading force behind everything I do. I have aspirations and dreams for myself, but ultimately it will all be done by His strength and for His glory. My faith truly began my freshman year of college. I hope to reflect Jesus' love, patience and humility. I want to continue growing in my relationship with Christ, and becoming more like Him.

James 1:2-3- "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance."

Romans 10:9- "If you declare with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
