ACCT 229

ACCT 229 thought me about how to prepare financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, retained earnings statements, and stockholder's equity statements.) This included for example, balancing debts and credits, calculating net purchases or net sales, bonds at a discount/ premium, calculating dividend or common stock, among much more.

National Science Foundation I-Corps Site Program

The NSF I-corps Site Program is an entrepreneurship and research program, aimed at giving teams with innovative ideas an opportunity to explore the market. By the end of the program, we are responsible for conducting at least 30 customer interviews and concluding if our idea is worth pursuing further.

McFerrin Methods: COVID-19 Business Impact, Strategy & Experience

This was a Zoom meeting with Brett Muller, president of Guardian Services. He spoke about survival strategies for business during a global pandemic. The biggest strategy for business is to cut expenses and adapt business operations to meet new needs and regulations. He also touched on the mentality of having to cut employees, the benefit to his business of the government's small business loans, and how he is planning for the uncertain future of the pandemic and economy.

McFerrin Methods: Situations of Conflict

This was a Zoom meeting with Rob Yuker on how to approach diverse situations of conflict. Some key tips he gave were: start a discussion with what is important to the other person, rather than what is most important to you; when communicating with confidence, it is key to make frequent eye contact, be informed, be direct, and to always follow through with what you say.

McFerrin Methods: Respond v. React

This was a Zoom meeting with Amos McDonald, Market President of BBVA. He spoke on the difference between reacting (emotional basis) vs. responding, which includes analyzing all available resources and options to make the best business decision.

  • Attempted to start a business with my grandmother, but decided to postpone launch till working conditions became safer (due to COVID-19).
